Homeschool and Tennis, A Perfect Match

--Physical education is often a concern for homeschoolers. There usually is not a designated class set aside for them to participate in on a weekly basis. This was the problem faced by "CHEC" Christian Home Education CO-OP.

After a couple of meetings Say Yes To Tennis was selected as the organization to provide tennis for their participants. We had an advantage over other programs because a couple of their kids were already attending our summer program.

Getting the tennis classses up and running was just a matter of sending a few e-mails to their members.

Several years ago when we started Julie Wandling was the president of CHEC. Her initial thrust was to determine the best time to have the class. Together we agreed that Friday morning was the best time.

Our program hours were from 9:30 to 1:30 pm. We offered three hours of tennis:

1. Ages 5 thru 9 from 9:30 to 10:30

2. Ages 10 thru 12 from 10:30 to 11:30

3. Ages 13 thru adults fro 12:00 to 1:00

Christian Home Educators Co-op (CHEC) is an organization comprised of Christian homeschooling families, having the intent and purpose of promoting Christian homeschooling and providing support, resources, activities, and Christian fellowship to its members. CHEC is open to Christian families who are homeschooling at least one child K4* or older effective September of said school year. Membership is restricted to families who have been excused from compulsory education, as described in the Ohio Administrative Code 3301-34 or 3301-35-08, and have filed said form or forms as required

Are you are looking for ways to start or grow a community tennis program? Do you have a passion that won't let you rest? If you can't get up and running you might want to do what I did. Contact a program like CHEC and offer your services. I did it for a modest price. I'm not trying to make a lot of money. I'm trying to make a difference.
