Passion and Career...Are They One In The Same?
Passions: Say Yes to Them and No To Career Blues
| |
You know the sound. You know the feelings. You are far too familiar with the piercing ring of your alarm clock or with the annoying voice of the morning announcer giving the 6 A.M. traffic report or the high pitch screech of the tenth caller to the "Morning Show" whose screams of jubilation seem more inline with having won an island in the tropics, rather than a complimentary ham and pastrami from the show's sponsor. Clearly, the announcer's perky wide awake voice and the caller's over the top screeches are brimming with passion...but not your groggy sighs. Simply put, you are passionless...at least when it comes to your career.
Consequently, everything about the day is annoying, resulting in yet another slap at the snooze button.
Finally, you resignedly, or perhaps angrily, throw back the covers and get up…simply dreading the day before you.
If you hate going to your job each morning, but simply don't know what to do about it, take heart because there is hope. Truly, it can't be too early or too late to discover your interests and begin building your career around them.
Wouldn't it be great to joyfully spring to your feet when the alarm clock signals the launch of a new work day? The good news is that you can. You simply have to figure out what it is that you are passionate about and then begin building your career around it. Make your interests and your career one in the same!
Perhaps you are just staring your career or maybe you have already made tons of money and now it is time for you unearth your buried interests or to give back to the community.
Regardless of where you are in life, you deserve to live your passion. Sometimes the most difficult part of reaching that end is discovering what it is that you love to do and then giving yourself permission to live it.
Need some encouragment that it can be done?
You will be encouraged and touched by how the desire and determination to help kids, coupled with an enjoyment of tennis, provided the catalyst for birthing a nonprofit organization that has benefited thousands of inner city youth.
